VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION THERAPY (VRT)
VRT is an exercise-based program individually designed to help with a variety of inner ear deficits.
When the balance organ of the inner ear is damaged, misleading information may be relayed to the brain. This can cause dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness and nausea, along with a host of other symptoms.
The goal of VRT is to retrain the brain to recognise signals from the inner ear in combination with the eyes, muscles and joints. This often involves doing movements in a safe environment that can initially provoke symptoms.
An individualised treatment plan is designed in collaboration with medical specialists to specifically target the areas of vestibular weaknesses.
