AUDITORY BRAINSTEM RESPONSE (ABR)
ABR is a diagnostic test that gives information about inner ear and brain pathways for hearing. ABR can be used for children or others who have difficulty with conventional ways for testing hearing.
ABR is obtained by attaching electrodes to record electrical activity from the hearing nerve and other parts of the brain. It is a safe and non-invasive test for all ages, with no associated risks. ABR is sometimes required in addition to standard tests to understand specific causes of hearing difficulties.
Results are analysed by experienced specialist Audiologists, explained to you and communicated to your GP, ENT, Neurologist or others.
ABRs are usually performed following a medical referral.
