6 MONTHS TO 2.5 YEARS
By 6 months of age, babies turn their heads to follow an interesting noise. From this age, their responses to sounds become more consistent and resemble those of older children.
In this age group, children are at highest risk of ear and hearing problems through middle ear disease (otitis media). Frequent infections or prolonged periods of middle ear congestion (glue ear) can result in hearing loss as well as speech and language delays.
